GENERAL FAQ

What is the cost?

We are proud to provide this conference free-of-charge to veterinarians with the help of sponsor support.

Is the event for veterinarians only?

Yes. This year's event content is intended for veterinarians. We look forward to bringing back our technical staff lecture tracks in 2021!

How do I access the lectures?

All lectures can be found in the Lectures tab and are available to be viewed at your convenience until December 31.

How long are the lectures?

Lectures range in length from 30 minutes to two hours.

Can I choose which lectures to attend?

Yes! Your continuing education experience is completely customizable. You may view lectures in any order you choose, and you do not have to watch all lectures.

What will the virtual presentation look like?

Each presentation will be formatted with a split screen. Attendees will be able to see both the presenter and the lecture slides at one time. Click here to watch a lecture navigation tutorial video.

Will event proceedings or lecture notes be available?

Yes! Each lecture will have proceedings (lecture notes or slides) provided by the speaker. Materials can be downloaded by clicking the blue "Proceedings" button next to each lecture.

Can I ask the presenter a question?

Absolutely. Questions may be submitted to speakers via the "Submit a Question" option within each lecture. Please allow 7 business days for a response. Click here to watch a lecture navigation tutorial video. How to ask a question is addressed at 4:00.

How many hours of continuing education is offered through the conference?

18 hours of CE lectures are available.

All lectures are both RACE approved and approved by the TBVME.

How can I engage with sponsors?

On October 3, sponsors will be available during designated “virtual exhibit hall hours” for live chatting. You can message sponsors directly on this day and access information about their products and services. For the duration of the conference (until December 31, 2020), you will be able to contact sponsors using the provided contact information. Click here to watch a Virtual Exhibit Hall tutorial video.

What if I am unable to join on Saturday, October 3rd?

No problem! Lectures and the Virtual Exhibit Hall will be available on-demand through December 31. Please note that sponsor “live chat” will only take place on October 3rd, however questions will be able to be submitted to sponsors through the end of the year.

Will there still be raffle prize drawings?

Can I enter more than once for the booth check in raffle?

You can be eligible each month (October, November, and December) that you check in to sponsor booths.

CONTINUING EDUCATION FAQ

How long are the lectures available?

All lectures are online and available for viewing October 3 – December 31.

I can’t attend October 3; can I still receive CE credit?

Absolutely! All lectures are online and available for viewing October 3 – December 31. We encourage you to view at your convenience within that time. Regardless of when you choose to view the lectures, the process of obtaining CE credit remains the same: you must view the lecture in its entirety and take and pass the quiz associated with each lecture you attend. Each quiz must be taken the same day that you view the lecture. All quizzes will be in the Continuing Education tab and will be monitored for audit purposes. A passing quiz score is 70% and quizzes may be retaken if not passed. Click here to watch a continuing education tutorial video.

I can’t attend October 3; when can I begin viewing the lectures?

All lectures are online and available for viewing October 3 – December 31. Once the lecture has aired in its entirety on October 3, it will be available for viewing at your convenience.

For Texas license renewals, is there still a limit of 10 hours of virtual learning out of the total 17 hours required?

According to the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners (TBVME), during the Governor’s Emergency Declaration, any of the acceptable CE options (online, webinar, teleconference) will be accepted totally towards the 17 hours required for Texas veterinarian license renewals.

*For other states, please check with your local board of veterinary medical examiners.

Does the opioid lecture meet the new state of Texas 2-hour CE requirement?

Yes! The lecture, Opioid Abuse and Controlled Substance Diversion: Veterinary Implications, does satisfy the new state of Texas 2-hour CE requirement related to opioid abuse and controlled substance diversion, inventory, and security now required every two years to renew a license to practice veterinary medicine. It is both RACE approved and approved by the TBVME.

Will CE certificates be available for download online (“digital”) or physically mailed to my address?

The Event CE Certificate will be available as a downloadable PDF. You will be required to download your certificate and may print it once downloaded. You will find the Event CE Certificate in the Continuing Education tab. Certificates will not be physically mailed.

REMINDER: The Event CE Certificate must be downloaded each day that you attend the lecture(s). A new date will appear on each certificate. Click here to watch a continuing education tutorial video.

Will I receive one certificate for each lecture?

No; all lectures will be listed on one certificate.

The Event CE Certificate:

  • This certificate is located on the Continuing Education page and must be downloaded each day that you attend. A new date will appear on each certificate. Lectures must be marked for the same day you viewed the lecture and took the associated quiz. Each quiz must be taken the same day that you view the corresponding lecture.

Texas Veterinarians: An additional Opioid & Substance Abuse CE Certificate will be emailed within 14 days of attendee’s completion of the above requirements. This is a state of Texas requirement, and this CE certificate will NOT be sent to attendees who do not view the lecture in its entirety. The certificate will be emailed to the email address utilized at registration.


Non-Texas Veterinarians
: If your state board requires a separate Opioid CE Certificate, please submit the request to info@txveterinariansymposium.com.

How do I receive my CE certificate?

Visit the Continuing Education tab to download your CE certificate. Click here to watch a continuing education tutorial video.

  • For audit purposes, the Event CE Certificate must be downloaded each day that a lecture(s) is viewed.
    • The date a certificate is downloaded will automatically appear on each certificate.
    • The Event CE Certificate will list all symposium lectures. Attendees are responsible for downloading the certificate and indicating which lecture(s) were viewed on that date.

E.g. If you view lectures on October 3 and November 15, you must download a certificate on October 3 (with the October 3 attended lectures indicated) and download another certificate on November 15 (with November 15 attended lectures indicated).

**Note: A separate certificate for the Opioid Abuse and Controlled Substance Diversion: Veterinary Implications lecture will be emailed within 14 days of completion of this lecture quiz. All quizzes must be taken the same day that the lecture is viewed. A passing quiz is required. Please allow approximately 14 days to receive this certificate.

What if I do not pass a quiz?

If you do not earn at least a 70%, you can retake the quiz.

Can an LVT get CE credit?

All lectures are approved for veterinarians only. Unfortunately, LVTs may not receive CE credit. We look forward to bringing our technical staff tracks back in 2021!

 

OPIOID & SUBSTANCE ABUSE LECTURE FAQ

I watched the Opioid lecture and passed the quiz, where do I get my CE certificate?

See "How do I receive my CE certificate?".

Texas Veterinarians: An additional Opioid & Substance Abuse CE certificate will be emailed within 14 days of attendee’s completion of viewing the lecture in its entirety and completing and passing the associated quiz. This is a state of Texas requirement, and this CE certificate will NOT be sent to attendees who do not view the lecture in its entirety. The certificate will be emailed to the email address utilized at registration.


Non-Texas Veterinarians
: The Opioid CE can be found on the Event CE Certificate and marked there once attended (and appropriate quiz has been passed). If your state board requires a separate Opioid CE Certificate, please submit the request to info@txveterinariansymposium.com.

Do I have to watch the entire lecture?

Yes; the Opioid & Substance Abuse CE Certificate will not be sent to those who do not watch the entire lecture. This lecture’s watch time is trackable for audit purposes.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT FAQ

Why doesn't the presentation appear?

If you're using a pop-up blocker, configure it to allow this site's pop-ups. You will need to change settings in your browser.

Why can't I hear audio?

Check that the computer you are using has speakers.
Check your volume controls. There are three areas you may find volume controls:

  • Browser tab is muted. Look for a mute icon in the browser tab. Right click on the tab to unmute.

  • Player volume: Look for volume icon inside the Player.

  • Computer volume: Adjust the volume slider and confirm that Mute is not selected.

  • External computer speakers (optional): Your speakers may have a volume control dial or knob that you can use to increase or decrease the volume level.

  • Using incognito mode might not allow all features to work correctly.

I keep seeing a popup, "playback ticket not valid for this session"

Chrome 80 introduced a change that may prevent playback of content that is embedded in other webpages, such as within an LMS. If you are using Chrome 80 and receiving an error message of "Your playback ticket is not valid for this session", please follow the instructions below to change a Chrome setting. After changing the setting, refresh the webpage and the content should play back normally.

Solution:

  • In Chrome's address bar, go to chrome://flags

  • In the “Search flags” search box, type “samesite”.

  • Set “SameSite by default cookies” to Disabled”

  • Set “Cookies without SameSite must be secure” to Disabled.
