Purpose

The purpose of the New Nurse Manager Workshop is to offer evidence-based presentations in a virtual format that will promote leadership excellence and improve the quality of care that healthcare practitioners provide.

Our expert speakers will cover topics you need to succeed as a new nurse leader. With a focus on both leadership and finance, you will learn the attributes strong leaders possess and be able to create a plan to enhance your role during a time of continual healthcare change and relentless pressure to meet challenges previously unseen in our profession. CE credit will be awarded upon completion of the event.

Learning Objectives/Outcomes

By attending this workshop and participating in the educational sessions, you’ll be better able to:

Leadership Behaviors

  • Identify challenges every new nurse leader faces.
  • Review the attributes strong leaders possess and create a plan to enhance your own practice.
  • List the types of questions that enhance critical thinking.
  • Identify methods of communication for different generations.

Finance Strategies

  • Identify the steps to develop and defend a staffing plan.
  • Compare staffing and operational variances of budgeted dollars to actual dollars.
  • Evaluate projects by more effectively assessing project revenue and expenses and calculating an ROI timeline.
  • Analyze connections between the cost of providing patient care and quality outcomes.

Learning Outcome

  1. At least 75% of the participants will demonstrate knowledge of leadership behaviors by identifying at least 5 leadership strategies to apply in their role.
  2. At least 75% of the participants will demonstrate skills in using financial strategies in return demonstration of a financial analysis activity.
