Competency Domain: Performance & Process Improvement

Description: In 2023, our organization completed the AHRQ Culture of Patient Safety survey. Top priorities were frequency of reporting by staff; staff perception that mistakes are held against them; and communication openness about concerns. Over the past two years, a strategic plan has addressed these priorities. A key improvement identified has been the increase in event reporting that has occurred over the past 2 years. Between the five system hospitals, the increase in reporting frequency has increased from between 11% to 50% at each hospital. Currently the survey is being repeated. This presentation will provide specific strategies to move the needle.
